HSE

HSE

During the speaking class I spoke about HSE and I would like to documented here. It means Health Safety Environment, it is very important in all industries, factories and contractors. The reputation of any of these industries are depending on how many fatalities or injuries they have per year.

Normally in HSE department they follow the followings to reduce the risk in any job.

  1. Identify the hazard. Hazard which is the potential cause physical injury or damage to health of people or damage property or environment.
  2. Assess Risk. the risk is the multiplication of  Probability by the Severity
           Risk = Prob. X Sev.
           Where Probability = likelihood of accident to happened
                      Severity = outcome of this accident

And they try to reduce the outcome of this equation as much as possible by applying the required measure control

  1. Measure Control is by applying the safety hierarchy of trying first to eliminate the hazard if not then replace it (substitution), then using engineering, procedures and sign boards and then the required Person Protective Equipment PPE.

Difference between Cigarette and Shisha

Hi Everybody;

During the last week in Speaking class there was a debate about the difference between Cigarette and Shisha, and I would like to clarify the followings:

        Shisha was invented by a physician called Hakim Abu Faith in 15th century, as he thought wrongly that the amount of nicotine can be reduced if the smoke pass through the water and ,therefore, the smoking will become safer. Actually researches showing that smoking Shishah tobacco is more dangerous than smoking Cigarettes. Shisha smokers often inhale more smoke than cigarette smokers because of the length of time a Shisha session lasts. One session can last up to an hour during which shisha smokers will inhale a large amount of tobacco. A report from The World Health Organization (WHO) noted that the smoke inhaled in a typical one-hour session can equal 100 cigarettes or more. The WHO report also claims that even after it has been passed through water, Shisha tobacco smoke still contains high levels of cancer-causing chemicals. Shisha smoke may also contain combusted charcoal or wood which can increase the chemicals in the smoke that cause cancer and heart disease.

Stop Making Stupid People Famous

Stop Making Stupid People Famous

I like the street art raised in Australia and also it is starting in Canada, USA and Europe asking the media to stop making any fooling people who didn't add anything to the world or community and making them as hero through the interviews, write reports and focus on them and give them something over what they deserved. We are asking the media to be reasonable and constraint on good example of people so other can follow them and don't use this way for earning money only.

You can read more on that in the following link here.

Referencing

Referencing

What is referencing?

Referencing is a standardized method of formatting the information sources you have used in your assignments or written work.

Why do we have to reference?

Failure to reference, or poor referencing can be classified as Academic Misconduct. It is a standard required of scholarly communication. It is also a standard for written communication expected by professional organisations where you will eventually be employed.
Referencing:
  • shows adherence to academic writing standards
  • shows respect for and acknowledges the work of other scholars
  • provides evidence that you have read and considered the relevant literature
  • allows validation and confirmation of sources used in your work, and
  • gives your work credibility.

Herewith Video shows how to do references using Microsoft word

Generosity

Generosity

Many people don't understand the importance of generosity. Whether or not you have a lot of money or material possessions, be a generous person, looking for ways to help people in need.

an example on that a famous Arab poet in 6th century, He is Hatim Al Taee. He was a very nice person with the qualities of being generous to poor and hospitality for his guests. He never paid attention to his reserves while giving to the poor. Hatim was a great example of the ancient Arabs (long before the Islam came). His quality of being generous to poor was incomparable.

Stories about his extreme generosity have made him an icon to Arabs up till the present day, also many books have been written about him in different countries and languages. Several movies and TV Series have been produced about his adventures. You can find more information about him in the Wikipedia here.

As you know my name is Ahmed Al Taee. Which I prod to belong to this generous person.

Photo & Comments - Society

Hi Dears;

I would like to comment on the picture above and I would like to see your opinion. I think this photo reflect the present situation of our society and especially in the 3rd world countries. If everyone put an effort to help others in solving them problems all of us will live happily, successfully and peacefully. There are a lot of examples in our life applicable to the picture above; and I will like to mention one of them like Taxation in Australia

With the Tax everyone pay part of his income as tax and the percentage is not small amount it reach sometimes (depend on your salary) to 47%. This money going for education all Australian kids, health, services and part of it use to help the poor and unable people to get food, medicine and accommodation. That make everyone can survive and live in this country even if he don't have source of money because of disease, old age, disability...etc. The beautiful on that, it is nobody complain as everyone know the tax from a variety of sources benefit you, your family and your neighbors. If everyone has money to live the percentage of theft will reduce, the percentage of crimes will reduce, and a study show that tax countries have been more successful in achieving their social objectives than no-tax countries, because no one lives in isolation.

Post & Comment - Dream

Hi Dears;
I would like comment on the post above and I would like to see your opinion. The dream to do something and work hard to achieve it is very important for everyone as it is the fuel in our life and without dream you will not progress. Everyone has to put target and aims for himself and fight, struggle and not sleep (if required) until he achieves it. If you fail, never give up because F.A.I.L. means "first Attempt In Learning". We have to try again until we success and remember End is not the end, if fact E.N.D. means "Effort Never Dies". So my message, is to continue conquer the problems until you succeed.

The best example on that is Dr. Abdul Kalam (11th President of India from 2002 to 2007) his dream to see India one of the greatest country in the world and he successes in that. He never ever stopped dreaming, and even in his last hours. He will remain one of the finest human beings to have ever lived. His legacy will continue to inspire people around the world in the coming years.
